Senior AI Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join Cohere Health’s Engineering team in Hyderabad. You will build intelligent agents and applications that serve health insurance plans covering over 15 million people, partnering with product, data science, and clinical teams to transform clinical intelligence at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and deploy Cohere’s AI‑powered agents and applications.
• Design data and retrieval architectures that provide agents with the right context across diverse healthcare sources.
• Own high‑quality agentic code, lead releases, production deployments, and provide on‑call support.
• Collaborate with ML/DS, product, and architecture teams to ensure systems meet business needs.
• Ensure all components comply with HIPAA and other healthcare security and privacy regulations.
• Participate in agile sprint planning, execution, and retrospectives to drive engineering efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of software development experience, including work with popular agent frameworks and language models.
• Proven experience shaping engineering standards, frameworks, or libraries used across multiple teams.

Required skills

• Experience with agent frameworks and large language models.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages for development.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Familiarity with AI architectures, multi‑agent systems, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), and evaluation frameworks.
• Understanding of graph‑based or multi‑modal data retrieval for AI reasoning.
