Security Consultant – Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing

About the role

IBM Consulting is seeking a Security Consultant specialized in Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT). You will work with leading enterprises to identify security gaps, evaluate risks, and deliver actionable remediation plans that protect critical assets.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability assessments of network and security devices using open‑source and commercial tools.
• Map networks, discover ports and services, and analyze scan reports to propose mitigation strategies.
• Track emerging vulnerabilities across multiple vendors and maintain up‑to‑date security posture.
• Audit configurations of firewalls, IPS, VPNs, and other security appliances.
• Produce detailed, client‑specific reports and present findings to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Strong understanding of network architecture and security concepts.
• Experience with both gray‑box and black‑box penetration testing.
• Analytical thinker able to resolve complex security issues quickly.

• Tenable (or similar VA tool)
• Burp Suite, Acunetix
• Nessus, Qualys, RetinaCS, McAfee (Foundstone)
• Metasploit, NMAP, NetCat, HPing, Backtrack
• Windows and Linux operating systems
• Firewall, IPS, VPN, proxy and web‑filtering solutions
• Knowledge of CVE and security advisories
