Scrum Master (SAFe)

About the role

Amgen is looking for a Scrum Master to drive Agile execution and continuous improvement in Scaled Agile (SAFe) environments. The role acts as a servant leader, facilitating Agile ceremonies, coaching teams and enabling Agile Release Trains (ARTs) to deliver high-value solutions, with strong emphasis on cross-team collaboration and enterprise Agile transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews and Inspect & Adapt sessions.
• Guide Agile teams, Product Owners and stakeholders, and coach ART teams on SAFe best practices and Lean-Agile principles.
• Remove organizational and technical impediments and promote continuous improvement through retrospectives.
• Support backlog management, prioritization and value-driven decisions, and track metrics such as Velocity, Flow Efficiency, Lead Time and Predictability.
• Collaborate with Release Train Engineers, Solution Architects and DevOps teams, and promote DevOps, CI/CD and Agile quality assurance.

Required profile

• SAFe Certified Scrum Master (SSM), SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) or SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification.
• Hands-on experience as a Scrum Master in Agile and SAFe environments, with experience in Agile portfolio management and governance.
• Education: doctorate with 3-5+ years, master's with 6-8+ years, or bachelor's with 8-10+ years in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• Good to have: biotech/pharma domain experience, CSM/PSM/SAAgilist certifications, and experience leading SAFe implementations and enterprise Agile coaching.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of SAFe, ARTs, Lean-Agile frameworks and Scrum, Kanban, XP.
• Proficiency in JIRA, Rally, Azure DevOps, Confluence and Miro.
• Knowledge of Lean Portfolio Management, flow-based work management, and DevOps, CI/CD and test automation.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills.
