School Helper – Cleaning & General Support

About the role

The School Helper provides essential cleaning and general support to ensure a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This onsite position focuses on maintaining cleanliness across all school areas while collaborating closely with school personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Maintain hygiene standards in line with school policies and health & safety regulations.
• Monitor, restock, and report on cleaning supplies and equipment needs.
• Work with teachers and administrative staff to address specific cleaning requests or issues.
• Identify and report any potential safeguarding or safety concerns promptly.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in cleaning, janitorial, or facilities support roles.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and operating cleaning equipment.
• Commitment to the school’s safeguarding, health, and safety principles.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating standard cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums, floor scrubbers).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of best practices for cleaning and hygiene.
