Safety Manager – TM (Birla Ojasvi)

About the role

The Safety Manager (TM) for the Birla Ojasvi project will lead all safety, health and environmental activities across the site. You will work closely with project teams, contractors and regional safety leads to ensure compliance with regulations and internal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inputs for project budgeting, monitor budget consumption and report on safety‑related expenditures.
• Develop and maintain the annual safety program, monthly activity planner and schedule of safety events such as National Safety Day and World Environmental Day.
• Obtain approvals for temporary structures, scaffolds and formwork, ensuring risk assessments are completed.
• Maintain safety systems, conduct bi‑annual environmental, electrical and fire safety tests, and organise regular mock drills.
• Lead monthly review meetings with contractors/PMC teams, document actions and track closures.
• Identify training needs, arrange and deliver site‑specific safety training and monitor inductions.
• Support incident investigations, gather data and prepare safety‑related MIS reports.
• Ensure compliance with EHS, BOCW and other regulations, update the compliance portal and manage corrective‑action tracking.
• Participate in pre‑bid and kick‑off meetings, orient contractors on safety expectations and assist in contractor performance assessments.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in safety management on construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of Indian EHS regulations, BOCW standards and HIRA methodology.
• Ability to prepare reports, safety plans and audit documentation.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with internal teams and external vendors.
