Researcher: AI/ML Enhanced Computational Engineering for Scientific AI and Optimization

About the role

We are looking for a researcher to develop next‑generation scientific machine‑learning technologies that enable automatic discovery, refinement and deployment of interpretable physical models for industrial system simulation. The role sits within Bosch Research’s Bangalore centre and works closely with simulation experts, applied mathematicians, AI researchers and product development teams worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement AI‑assisted engineering methodologies that combine physics‑based simulation, symbolic regression and numerical optimization.
• Develop and integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into digital engineering workflows.
• Conduct research on hybrid modelling that merges physics and AI/ML techniques.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across Germany, Spain, India, USA and China to validate and transfer research outcomes.
• Publish findings in scientific venues and contribute to Bosch’s patent portfolio.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in computational engineering, AI/ML, applied mathematics or a related field.
• Strong research track record in scientific machine learning or related areas.
• Experience with physics‑based simulation and hybrid modelling approaches.
• Proven ability to work in an international, multidisciplinary environment.
