About the role
We are seeking a remote Biology Professor to work on a short‑term contract designing and solving advanced biology problems for large language model evaluation. The role lasts 11 weeks and offers flexible remote work with a required overlap of four hours with Pacific Standard Time.
Key responsibilities
- Design challenging biology problems and develop detailed, step‑by‑step solutions to assess large language models.
- Collaborate with LLM researchers to create and refine evaluation benchmarks spanning undergraduate to PhD‑level biology.
- Analyze complex biological questions using logical, structured approaches.
- Explain biology concepts clearly, employing simple language, visual aids, and simulations where appropriate.
Required profile
- Master’s, Ph.D., or currently pursuing a Ph.D./Postdoctoral degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related fields.
- Strong research and analytical abilities with creative, lateral thinking.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency in at least three of the following tools: BWA, Bowtie2, GATK, HMMER, HHsuite, STAR, SPAdes, IQ‑TREE, OpenMM, AlphaFold2, PyOpenMS, RELION, PhysiCell, COPASI, Comet, COBRApy, Hifiasm, ABySS, DeepVariant, Flye, OR‑Tools, Bracken, Kraken2, MEGAHIT, antiSMASH, BEAST2, FastTree, DIA‑NN, Percolator, AutoDock Vina, CP2K, Salmon, MethylDackel, Canu, GROMACS.
What we offer
- Compensation of $450 per approved task.
- Full‑time commitment of 8 hours per day.
- Remote work with a 4‑hour PST overlap.
