About the role

Google is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to join its Global Regulatory Affairs team and provide legal expertise on content‑related issues. You will work closely with product, policy, and engineering teams to interpret emerging laws, mitigate regulatory risk, and shape the company’s compliance strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply national and international content laws to Google products.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to develop and maintain compliance programs.
• Engage with regulators, academic experts, and external parties on policy matters.
• Communicate compliance positions internally and externally.
• Support public company board committees on regulatory matters.

Required profile

• J.D., LL.B., or equivalent degree (or comparable practical experience).
• At least 7 years of attorney‑level experience in government, in‑house, or law‑firm settings.
• Admission to the bar and good standing in the jurisdiction of employment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with cross‑functional teams and manage projects.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting content (e.g., AG, FTC, DOJ, global data‑protection authorities).
• Experience developing compliance programs for technology products.
• Ability to analyze complex technical issues from a legal perspective.
