Receivables Accountant

About the role

Seaspan is seeking a Receivables Accountant to join its Finance Operations team. The role supports accurate and timely processing, reconciliation, billing and collection of receivables for Seaspan Ship Management Ltd. and the broader Seaspan Corporation group.

Key responsibilities

• Execute full month‑end accounts‑receivable (AR) cycle, including journal entries, accruals, reclassifications and reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain monthly receivables working papers and supporting schedules.
• Reconcile the AR sub‑ledger to the general‑ledger control account and resolve differences.
• Generate AR schedules, analyse variances and follow up on aged or unusual balances.
• Process AR invoices, apply cash receipts accurately and cross‑review invoices prepared by teammates.
• Support month‑end reporting, commentary and analysis of collections, customer balances and owner expense recoveries.
• Participate in process‑improvement and finance‑transformation initiatives related to AR systems, reporting and controls.

Required profile

• Strong accounting foundation with solid understanding of revenue recognition principles.
• Attention to detail and ability to investigate and resolve complex receivable, billing and reconciliation issues.
• Experience working with internal stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Treasury and related functions.
• Proactive mindset for continuous improvement and transformation projects.

Required skills

• Knowledge of month‑end close procedures and AR accounting processes.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
• Familiarity with billing, cash application and account reconciliation techniques.
