QA Automation Engineer – Playwright & Appium

About the role

Capco is seeking a QA Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Playwright and Appium to build and maintain automation frameworks for web and mobile applications. You will work on projects for leading banks, insurers and payment service providers, contributing to the transformation of the financial services industry.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks for web and mobile applications.
• Develop automated test scripts using Playwright for web applications and Appium for Android/iOS mobile applications.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, end‑to‑end, and cross‑browser/device testing.
• Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.
• Develop reusable automation components and improve framework scalability and maintainability.
• Perform API testing and automation using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, Playwright API, or equivalents.
• Analyze test failures, application logs, and defects to identify root causes.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, and QA engineers throughout the SDLC.
• Participate in test planning, estimation, test strategy, and automation coverage discussions.
• Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, execution time, reliability, and overall product quality.
• Track defects and testing activities using tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure automation code follows best practices.

Required skills

• 4+ years of experience in QA Automation / SDET / Software Testing.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Appium for mobile automation.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Playwright for web/UI automation.
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Python (preference for JavaScript/TypeScript with Playwright).
• Good understanding of Android and iOS application testing.
• Experience with cross‑browser and cross‑device testing.
• Strong knowledge of automation framework design, including Page Object Model (POM) and reusable test components.
• Experience with API testing and automation.
• Experience with version‑control systems such as Git.
• Hands‑on experience integrating automation tests with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum, defect lifecycle, and testing methodologies.
• Good debugging, troubleshooting, and root‑cause‑analysis skills.
