Purchasing Manager (Production Materials)

About the role

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for ensuring systematic and operational processes for all production materials and bought‑out parts. You will coordinate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to guarantee timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Order raw materials, scrap bundles, and bought‑out parts according to the production schedule.
• Issue RFQs, collect quotations, and create purchase orders, securing necessary approvals.
• Define and implement purchasing strategies in line with business unit objectives.
• Lead supplier selection, contract negotiations, and maintain key supplier relationships.
• Convert monthly purchase requisitions to purchase orders for all production items.
• Drive cost‑reduction initiatives through negotiation, alternate sourcing, and value‑analysis proposals.
• Develop secondary sources to mitigate risk and reduce costs.
• Prepare monthly MIS reports on purchase spend and analysis.
• Achieve yearly targets such as cost savings, improved payment terms, and dual sourcing.
• Manage internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with IATF16949 and EMS standards.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams (Production, Finance, Quality) to align purchasing strategies.
• Train and develop team members and oversee scrap sales via e‑auction platforms.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of experience in purchasing within an industrial environment.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
• Detail‑oriented, logical thinker with a passion for continuous learning.
