Purchase Manager

About the role

The Purchase Manager will lead end‑to‑end procurement activities for a leather goods and export‑focused manufacturing operation in Kanpur. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures timely sourcing, cost control and compliance with company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and qualify suppliers for raw materials and services.
• Request, review and compare quotations.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions with vendors.
• Prepare and finalize purchase orders in line with organisational requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels and plan material requirements.
• Coordinate with production, quality and finance teams to ensure timely delivery.
• Assess vendor performance and maintain accurate purchase and cost records.
• Implement cost‑control measures and ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulations.
• Build strong vendor relationships and resolve supply issues promptly.
• Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and profitability.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or vendor management.
• Strong skills in supplier identification, negotiation, purchase order management and cost optimisation.
• Experience in inventory and material management, demand planning and coordination with production.
• Analytical and documentation abilities, including data analysis and reporting.
• Effective communication and collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
• Knowledge of procurement policies, commercial terms and compliance requirements for manufacturing and export businesses.
• Relevant bachelor’s degree (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Business Administration).

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Excel.
• Experience using ERP‑based purchasing systems.
