Project Lead – Urban Malaria Elimination

About the role

The Project Lead will provide strategic, technical and operational leadership for the Urban Malaria Elimination Project in Mumbai, ensuring alignment with national and global malaria strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead overall project implementation across intervention wards and develop annual and quarterly plans.
• Establish and manage the Project Management Unit, coordinating surveillance, case management, vector control, GIS mapping and operational research.
• Provide technical oversight on malaria surveillance, radical cure, vector control, GIS analytics and digital health systems.
• Coordinate with BMC departments, NCVBDC, private providers, academic institutions, NGOs and community groups.
• Implement the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework, review dashboards and prepare technical and financial reports.
• Supervise competency‑based training programmes and mentor project staff and municipal teams.
• Monitor financial and administrative aspects of the project to ensure timely milestone achievement.
• Document best practices, operational research findings and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale public health or malaria elimination projects.
• Strong knowledge of national malaria strategies, WHO technical guidelines and vector‑borne disease control.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑stakeholder partnerships and municipal teams.
• Experience in establishing and running a Project Management Unit.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
