Product Manager, Model APIs

About the role

Sarvam is building the foundation of sovereign AI for India and seeks a Product Manager to own its Model APIs. You will bridge research and market, shaping how developers and enterprises consume speech, language, and multimodal models.

Key responsibilities

• Own the API product surface, including specification, versioning, documentation, developer experience, and deprecation strategy.
• Shape model roadmaps with research leads, using usage data, evaluations, and customer signals to decide what to train, fine‑tune, and release.
• Define and enforce quality standards for accuracy, latency, cost per call, robustness, and failure modes.
• Manage evaluation as a product: benchmark suites, offline/online tests, human evaluations, and reporting.
• Translate customer and developer feedback into concrete API and model requirements and communicate changes.
• Partner with infrastructure and platform teams on rollout, capacity, monitoring, and reliability.
• Drive end‑to‑end release planning, including positioning, launch, migration paths, and trade‑off decisions.

Required profile

• 3+ years building AI/ML products, developer platforms, or APIs where model capabilities influence product decisions.
• Fluency with the full model lifecycle—data, training, fine‑tuning, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Strong analytical instincts; comfortable using data to drive decisions.
• Sound judgment on trade‑offs between quality, latency, and cost, with confidence to make and defend choices.
• Ability to work closely with researchers and earn their trust.
