Procurement Specialist – Metals

About the role

3M is seeking a Procurement Specialist focused on metals to join its Global Capability Centre in Bangalore. The role is an individual contributor position that drives sourcing strategy, supplier management and cost‑reduction initiatives for outsourced manufacturing and new product introductions.

Key responsibilities

• Own procurement category strategy for metals across 3M businesses, supporting outsourced manufacturing, NPI launches and cost/working‑capital goals.
• Lead supplier selection, relationship management and mid‑spend supplier oversight with the Global Metals Category team.
• Develop and execute dual‑sourcing, negotiation and external supply solutions, including should‑cost modelling.
• Drive process improvements, stakeholder partnerships, category risk reduction and SAP‑enabled sourcing support.
• Negotiate complex contracts in collaboration with stakeholders and Legal, covering SMI, consigned materials and formula‑based pricing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology (Metallurgy or Mechanical preferred).
• 8‑10 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, logistics, supply‑chain, engineering or manufacturing.
• Hands‑on experience with outsourced metal casting, machining and stamping suppliers.
• Strong negotiation, project‑management and financial analysis capabilities.
