Principal Solution Architect - Enterprise Data

About the role

Amgen is looking for a Principal Solution Architect to drive the architecture, development and implementation of data solutions for its functional groups such as R&D, Operations and GCO. The role works with Business, Program Management, Data Engineering and Analytic Engineering teams and champions enterprise data analytic strategy and architectural guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and manage large-scale data analytic solutions aligned with the Amgen Data strategy
• Design, develop, optimize, deliver and support data solutions on AWS and Databricks architectures
• Provide expert guidance and mentorship to team members
• Define guidelines, standards, security policies and change management policies for the Enterprise Data platform
• Align with EARB, Cloud Infrastructure, Security and other technology leaders on Enterprise Data Architecture changes
• Lead demos at roadmap sessions and grow the Enterprise Data Platform across project and application groups
• Manage the Enterprise Data Platform on AWS so that uptime, performance and capacity meet business SLAs
• Optimize cloud resources and collaborate with RunOps engineers to speed production deployments
• Stay current with data integration, data management and analytics tools and work in a SAFe Agile/Scrum model

Required profile

• Master's degree with 12-15 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or a related field, or Bachelor's degree with 14-17 years
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in data integration, data management and BI technology stacks
• Strong experience with one or more data management tools such as AWS data lake, Snowflake or Azure Data Fabric
• Expert-level Databricks skills and strong Python, PySpark and SQL experience
• Experience with Apache Spark, Delta Lake and BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI
• Good-to-have: life sciences or tech background, Scaled Agile experience, AWS Certified Data Engineer or Databricks certificate
