Principal Architect – Data Center Projects

About the role

AECOM is seeking a visionary Principal Architect to lead the design and delivery of large‑scale data center projects in Mumbai. You will shape scalable, secure, and efficient infrastructure solutions while guiding cross‑functional teams from concept through deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end data center infrastructure, covering network, storage, compute, and security components.
• Develop and communicate technical strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
• Lead project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery.
• Oversee engineers, vendors, and stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
• Conduct feasibility studies, ensure compliance with standards (ISO 27001, ANSI/TIA, Uptime Institute), and mentor technical teams.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in data center architecture, infrastructure design, or related technical roles.
• Proven leadership in managing and mentoring technical teams.
• Strong project management background with large‑scale infrastructure initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in data center design, networking, storage, and compute systems architecture.
• Knowledge of cloud, virtualization, and hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 27001, ANSI/TIA, Uptime Institute.
• Proficiency with design tools: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, BIM.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) are a plus.
