Linux System Administrator (L2)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator (L2) to manage and support our enterprise Linux infrastructure. The role involves hands‑on administration, security hardening, networking, and incident resolution for critical business services.

Key responsibilities

• Administer RHEL, Rocky Linux, CentOS and Ubuntu servers, handling users, groups, permissions and services.
• Perform package management using YUM, DNF and APT, and manage filesystems, storage and boot processes.
• Analyze logs, troubleshoot OS issues and monitor system performance.
• Support TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, FTP and SSH, including broadcast and multicast communication.
• Diagnose connectivity problems with ping, traceroute, tcpdump, netstat, ss and nmap.
• Handle basic VLAN and routing troubleshooting.
• Understand enterprise server hardware, RAID configurations and perform basic hardware troubleshooting.
• Execute Linux server hardening, vulnerability remediation and host‑level firewall configuration (firewalld, iptables).
• Monitor CPU, memory, disk and network metrics using Site24x7, Dynatrace or similar tools and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Develop Bash/Shell scripts, schedule jobs with cron and automate tasks; basic knowledge of Ansible is a plus.
• Support Linux servers in VMware‑virtualized environments and manage backup, restore and decommissioning processes.

Required skills

• Strong hands‑on Linux administration (RHEL, Rocky Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Linux server hardening and VA/CA remediation.
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, FTP, SSH and broadcast/multicast concepts.
• Filesystem, storage and RAID management.
• Shell/Bash scripting and cron job automation.
• Basic VMware fundamentals.
• Firewalld and iptables firewall configuration.
• Package management with YUM, DNF and APT.
• Monitoring tools such as Site24x7 or Dynatrace.
• Basic understanding of Ansible.
