Plant Manager – Busbar Trunking Systems (BBT)

About the role

Voltra Systems is establishing a new manufacturing facility in Hyderabad for busbar trunking (BBT) systems and low‑voltage control panels. As Plant Manager you will own the set‑up and operation of the BBT production line from day one, building the team, processes and ensuring quality, throughput and on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Design and launch the BBT production line, including conductor cutting, insulation application, housing assembly, joint fabrication and final testing.
• Develop SOPs, work instructions and quality checkpoints for sandwich busbar and rising mains manufacturing (aluminium and copper conductors).
• Oversee tooling setup such as press brakes, CNC shearing, insulation wrapping and torque‑controlled assembly stations.
• Manage the full production cycle: BOM finalisation, material requisition, shop‑floor scheduling, in‑process inspection and dispatch clearance.
• Ensure compliance with IEC 61439‑6 / IS 8084 standards, including IP rating verification, temperature‑rise testing and short‑circuit withstand validation.
• Source and qualify vendors for conductors, enclosures, insulation materials and hardware.
• Recruit, train and lead a team of fabricators, assemblers and QC technicians.
• Track plant KPIs (units produced, rejection rate, rework %, on‑time dispatch) and report to senior management.
• Supervise low‑voltage panel (PCC, MCC, APFC) production as a secondary workstream when required.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of experience in electrical manufacturing with hands‑on exposure to busbar trunking, rising mains or low‑voltage busbar fabrication.
• Strong knowledge of BBT components such as sandwich conductors, housing profiles, tap‑off boxes and expansion joints.
• Familiarity with aluminium vs copper conductor selection, current ratings and derating considerations.
• Understanding of IEC 61439‑6 / IS 8084 test requirements and their implementation on the shop floor.
• Experience with sheet‑metal processes (shearing, bending, powder coating) for BBT enclosures.
• Ability to read and interpret single‑line diagrams and BBT layout drawings.
