Patient Assistant

About the role

The Patient Assistant ensures that patients are safely and courteously guided from the hospital entrance, parking area, or roadside to the reception or the appropriate department. This role is vital for maintaining patient safety and comfort during their arrival and movement within the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients safely while crossing roads and entering or exiting hospital premises.
• Open and close vehicle doors for patients in a respectful manner.
• Provide wheelchair assistance whenever required.
• Help elderly, disabled, visually impaired, and weak patients move safely.
• Escort patients from vehicles or entrance areas to reception, outpatient departments, or the concerned department.
• Properly hand over patients to the PRO or designated hospital staff.
• Ensure wheelchairs are clean, available, and well‑maintained.
• Coordinate with PRO, reception, security, and nursing staff for smooth patient movement.
• Provide basic guidance to patients and by‑standers within the hospital premises.
• Maintain discipline, politeness, and professionalism at all times.
• Immediately report any emergency or patient‑safety issue to the appropriate authority.

Required profile

• Friendly, courteous, and patient‑focused attitude.
• Physical ability to assist with wheelchairs and help patients move.
• Good communication skills to interact with patients, families, and hospital staff.
• Reliability and punctuality.
• Ability to stay calm and act quickly in emergency situations.
