Part‑time Dietary Aide – Support Meal Services

About the role

The Dietary Aide provides essential support for meal preparation, service and clean‑up in a residential long‑term care setting. Reporting to the Nutrition Manager, you will help ensure residents receive nutritious meals in a courteous and safe environment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests professionally and courteously.
• Assist with set‑up and preparation of beverages, salads, desserts and other items.
• Set and clear dining tables, deliver tray service, and clean dishware and cutlery after each seating.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas and support catering for special events.
• Help orient and train new dietary staff.
• Follow health, safety, provincial regulations and Extendicare’s Code of Conduct.
• Participate in staff meetings, in‑service training, and quality‑improvement programs.

Required profile

• Valid Food Handler's Certificate (or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Training Program).
• Previous experience in food service, especially with seniors, is preferred.
• Excellent customer‑service attitude.
• Physical ability to lift heavy, hot items and stand/walk for most of the shift.
• Willingness to obtain a current Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
