OT Scrub Nurse

About the role

The Operating Theatre (OT) Scrub Nurse will work full‑time on‑site at our children’s hospital in Nagercoil. You will ensure the operating room is ready for each procedure, support surgeons and the surgical team, and help maintain a safe, sterile environment for patients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments and supplies according to procedure requirements and hospital protocols.
• Assist surgeons during operations, maintain a sterile field, and count instruments and sponges.
• Handle specimens correctly and document intra‑operative nursing care accurately.
• Check and restock OT inventory, and assist with patient positioning and transfer.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and other clinical staff to ensure efficient, high‑quality surgeries.

Required profile

• Recognized nursing qualification (e.g., GNM, B.Sc Nursing) with valid local registration.
• Previous experience as a scrub nurse or OT nurse in a hospital setting is preferred.
• Ability to follow clinical protocols, work in a multidisciplinary team and stay calm under pressure.
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends or holidays, and commitment to continuous learning.

Required skills

• Aseptic technique and sterile field management.
• Instrument handling and counting.
• Knowledge of orthopedic surgery procedures (advantageous).
• Understanding of pre‑, intra‑ and post‑operative patient care.
