Neurology Technician – EEG & NCS

About the role

The Neurology Technician will support the neuro‑diagnostic department by acquiring accurate patient histories and performing a range of electrophysiological investigations. This position works closely with neurologists and intensive‑care teams to deliver high‑quality diagnostic data.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain concise patient histories, including seizure type, date of last seizure and medication details.
• Perform and interpret routine, sleep and electro‑cerebral silence EEG recordings.
• Conduct special EEG procedures such as neonatal recordings in the intensive‑care nursery.
• Carry out bedside EEG studies for critically ill patients in intensive‑care units.
• Execute nerve conduction studies, including motor, sensory, F‑wave, repetitive stimulation, H‑reflex and blink‑reflex assessments.
• Perform evoked potential studies: visual evoked potentials (VEP), brainstem auditory evoked responses (BAER) and somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP).

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to obtain detailed patient information relevant to neuro‑diagnostic testing.
• Experience in performing EEG, nerve conduction studies and evoked potential investigations.
• Capability to work in a hospital environment, including intensive‑care and neonatal settings.

Required skills

• Electroencephalography (EEG) – routine, sleep, and special protocols.
• Neonatal EEG recording in intensive‑care settings.
• Bedside EEG for critical patients.
• Nerve conduction studies (NCS) – motor, sensory, F‑wave, repetitive stimulation, H‑reflex, blink‑reflex.
• Visual evoked potential (VEP) testing.
• Brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER) testing.
• Somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP) testing.
