Modelling Engineer – Concrete and Rebar

About the role

DBM Vircon is seeking a Modelling Engineer specialised in concrete and rebar to join its digital engineering team. The role involves creating detailed rebar models and associated documentation using Tekla Structures throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract documents and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review project scope, contract drawings and specifications, and estimate required modelling hours.
• Prepare simple to complex rebar models and placement drawings for structural components using customer architectural and structural documents.
• Identify and report clashes between rebar and other trades, ensuring coordination across disciplines.
• Produce clear, concise models, drawings and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) that can be easily interpreted by engineers, architects, contractors and placers.
• Create bar lists and accessory order forms aligned with the project pour sequence and schedule.
• Follow defined self‑checking procedures to maintain high‑quality detailing output.
• Deliver modelling deliverables within agreed timelines and proactively flag any deviations to the team leader.
• Support junior team members by sharing knowledge and best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience modelling rebar on large and complex construction projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Tekla Structures for rebar modelling and detailing.
• Experience creating Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and placement drawings.
• Ability to perform clash detection and resolve coordination issues.
• Knowledge of industry standards and contract documentation related to reinforcement detailing.
