Medical Nurse Consultant – Disability Claims

About the role

The Medical Nurse Consultant joins Alight’s Clinical Center of Excellence to provide clinical expertise to non‑clinical disability claim examiners. Using the industry‑standard MDGuidelines, you will help ensure disability claims are adjudicated accurately and support employees in returning to work within medically reasonable timeframes.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary clinical resource for a team of claim examiners handling medical disability and accommodation cases.
• Provide consultation, feedback, and charting to help examiners understand functional impairment related to job duties.
• Facilitate medically sound decisions and case navigation strategies using MDGuidelines.
• Consult on medical claims within the scope of your licensure and clinical expertise.
• Collaborate with claim examiners to develop return‑to‑work plans for medically able individuals.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or comparable license with active US licensure.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, preferably in occupational health.
• Experience in disability claims or workers‑compensation case management is preferred.
• Strong dedication to high‑quality customer service, patient advocacy, and professional competency.
• Availability to work a shift starting between 5 pm and 9 pm.
