Mechanical Design Engineer – Power Transformers

About the role

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Design Engineers to join our start-up focused on critical power‑grid equipment. The role involves the mechanical design of large power transformers ranging from 230 kV up to 765 kV, including tanks, bodies, internal arrangements and accessories.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components of large power transformers (230 kV‑765 kV), including tank/body, covers, external accessories and active parts.
• Develop and integrate magnetic circuits and internal component layouts.
• Prepare installation arrangements for internal transformer parts.
• Perform mechanical calculations for structural strength, pressure, loading, transportation and seismic requirements.
• Produce and review general arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings and design documentation.
• Coordinate with electrical design, manufacturing, testing and quality teams.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IS, IEEE and BIS standards as well as customer specifications.

Required profile

• B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands‑on mechanical design experience with large power transformers rated 230 kV and above.
• 10 years (junior) to 20 years (senior) of relevant experience, preferably in transformer OEMs.
• Strong knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
