Mechanical Design Engineer – Bushing

About the role

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Bushing Design Engineer to join its Global Engineering Team in Vadodara. You will contribute to the design and development of power transformer bushings, ensuring they meet customer requirements, industry standards, and sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop high‑performance bushings for power transformers, supporting projects across multiple countries.
• Apply manufacturing techniques such as metal casting, plastics processing, metal forming, and porcelain extrusion used at the Ludvika plant.
• Collaborate with the Global Technical Center on new developments and R&D projects.
• Lead problem‑solving, process design, product application, and cost‑out initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations, ISO standards, and safety and integrity policies.

Required profile

• B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with strong power engineering fundamentals.
• 9–15 years of experience in bushing design for power transformers.
• Hands‑on expertise with OIP and RIS condenser bushings and related material technologies.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 18001 and ISO 14001 standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in PTC Creo 4.0 and Windchill PLM.
• Experience with mechanical simulation tools, especially ANSYS.
• Strong knowledge of materials such as porcelain, aluminium, brass, bronze, epoxy, glass, paper and insulating oils.
• Competence in Microsoft Office suite.
