Manager – Mainframe Modernization (AI‑Driven)

About the role

We are looking for a Manager to lead EY’s AI‑Driven Mainframe Modernization practice. You will define the end‑to‑end strategy, work with C‑suite stakeholders and guide a team of engineers to migrate mission‑critical mainframe workloads to cloud‑native platforms using AI automation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the mainframe modernization strategy aligned with business objectives and technology roadmaps.
• Assess legacy applications (COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, IMS, Assembler) and establish governance, quality gates and technical debt reduction plans.
• Champion AI/ML tools, LLMs and custom pipelines for automated code analysis, refactoring and translation at scale.
• Lead migration of workloads to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and ensure integration with containerised services, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Mentor and grow a team of modernization engineers, fostering capabilities in AI‑driven development, DevOps and micro‑services architecture.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience with legacy mainframe systems and at least 3‑4 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale mainframe modernization or digital transformation programmes.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging C‑suite executives.
