Linux System Admin – Architect

About the role

The Systems Administrator is a key member of the deployment team, responsible for designing, integrating, and maintaining a wide range of operating systems and platforms. You will ensure that all systems remain secure, up‑to‑date, and fully functional for both internal users and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day system administration and health monitoring across Windows, UNIX, Linux, AIX, and NT platforms.
• Assist the network administrator with LAN, WAN, and Internet tasks.
• Manage software licenses and maintain secure backend systems.
• Install and configure backup/restore/failover solutions such as NetBackup, Veritas, and Legato.
• Conduct performance tuning and resource optimization for all platforms.
• Support configuration of routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Assist with database installation and configuration.
• Deploy and maintain monitoring tools (e.g., Big Brother) and apply OS/DB patches.

Required profile

• Three‑year college degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Minimum two years of systems administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and UNIX operating systems.
• Extensive LAN network engineering experience (TCP/IP, internet protocols).
• Experience with HP and Sun UNIX platforms and implementing security measures, including firewalls.
• Self‑motivated with a solid understanding of system administration methodologies.
• Working knowledge of common programming languages (C/C++, Java, Perl, Ruby).
