Lead/Senior Solution Architect – Java (Cloud, Azure)

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced, hands‑on Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of cloud‑native, scalable, and secure solutions for a major enterprise commerce platform. The role focuses on Java‑based microservices, event‑driven architectures, and strong cloud expertise, preferably on Microsoft Azure.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and lead development of cloud‑native systems using microservices and event‑driven paradigms.
• Design and implement solutions on Kubernetes (AKS preferred) and service‑mesh technologies such as Istio.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across engineering teams.
• Drive performance optimisation through end‑to‑end testing to ensure scalability, responsiveness and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Create and maintain architectural diagrams and documentation using tools like Miro, Gliffy or Draw.io.
• Guide cloud adoption, modernisation and optimisation initiatives while staying current with emerging technologies.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in cloud architecture, preferably in the banking domain.
• Proven production‑grade experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS or GCP).
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, container orchestration and service‑mesh technologies.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, security and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and operational communications in regulated financial services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
