About the role
Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with deep expertise in C/C++ and Unix/Linux to design, develop and lead high‑performance, secure payment applications. The role combines hands‑on coding, architectural ownership and cross‑team collaboration.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement low‑latency, scalable systems on Unix/Linux using modern C/C++ practices.
- Own end‑to‑end architecture, ensuring fault tolerance, high throughput and resilience.
- Drive automation of builds, testing and deployment pipelines and troubleshoot production issues.
- Mentor engineering teams, conduct code reviews and lead post‑incident reviews.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong background in payment cryptography, session key derivation, ARQC/ARPC and HSM modules (e.g., Thales).
- Proven experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD and secure coding standards.
Required skills
- C, C++ programming, multithreading, memory management, socket/IPC.
- Unix/Linux system internals, shell scripting, performance tuning.
- Build tools (Make, CMake), debugging (gdb), testing (gtest), profiling.
- GitHub, GitHub Copilot, Agile methodologies.
- Cryptographic techniques: Triple DES, AES, payment HSM commands.
