Lead Arborist

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Lead Arborist to oversee advanced tree care operations. You will apply modern arboricultural techniques, ensure safety in all canopy work, and coordinate with clients and team members.

Key responsibilities

• Perform modern arboricultural practices at a high level, including hazard tree removal and pruning to ISA standards.
• Ascend and work safely in tree canopies of any size using SRS, MRS and traditional climbing methods.
• Operate aerial lifts, brush chippers, stumpers and chainsaws with care.
• Rig large limbs, install static and dynamic cabling/bracing systems, and conduct aerial rescues.
• Demonstrate safe work practices, proper PPE use, and clear communication with colleagues and clients.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of industry experience and post‑secondary education related to arboriculture.
• Excellent client communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract and certifications in Working at Heights, WHMIS and First Aid.
• ISA Certified Arborist or Ontario Certified Arborist (asset) and additional certifications such as Utility Arborist 444A/444B, crane competency, or IHSA Line Clearing (asset).

Required skills

• Tree climbing using Single Rope System (SRS) and Moving Rope System (MRS).
• Spur‑assisted hazard tree removal.
• Pruning to International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) standards.
• Aerial lift operation and safe use of brush chippers, stumpers and chainsaws.
• Technical rigging for large limb and tree removal.
• Installation of static and dynamic cabling and bracing systems.
• Aerial rescue techniques.
• Operation of 0‑8 tonne cranes (asset).
