Lead Arborist

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Arborist to oversee advanced tree care operations, ensuring safety and quality across all projects. The successful candidate will lead a team in performing complex pruning, removals, and rigging tasks while maintaining client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform modern arboricultural practices at a high level, including pruning to ISA standards.
• Climb and work safely in tree canopies of any size using SRS, MRS, and traditional methods.
• Execute hazard tree removal, including spur‑assisted techniques.
• Operate aerial lifts, brush chippers, stumpers, and chainsaws for pruning and removal.
• Install and maintain static and dynamic cabling and bracing systems.
• Conduct aerial rescues and technical rigging for large limb and tree removal.
• Provide guidance and training to crew members, ensuring proper PPE use and safe work practices.

Required profile

• Minimum four years of industry experience in arboriculture.
• Post‑secondary education related to arboriculture.
• Excellent client communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
• Current certifications in Working at Heights, WHMIS, and First Aid.

Required skills

• SRS and MRS climbing techniques.
• Spur‑assisted hazard tree removal.
• Aerial lift operation.
• Technical rigging and cabling (static & dynamic).
• Operation of brush chippers, stumpers, and chainsaws.
• 0‑8 tonne crane competency (asset).
• ISA Certified Arborist or Ontario Certified Arborist (asset).
• Utility Arborist 444A/444B and IHSA Line Clearing Safety certifications (asset).
