Java Software Developer – AI‑Enabled Engineering

About the role

Join Charles Schwab’s Hyderabad team as a Java Software Developer focused on AI‑enabled engineering. You will help shape the early growth of Schwab India, building scalable solutions that serve millions of clients while leveraging generative AI coding tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java applications that meet high‑quality standards.
• Utilise GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor to accelerate development.
• Critically review AI‑generated code for bugs, security issues, and overall quality.
• Translate low‑level design artifacts into structured specifications that guide AI‑assisted implementation.
• Define and champion prompt‑engineering standards and custom instruction authoring for the team.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive technical innovation and engineering best practices.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, OOP, design patterns, system design, databases, networking, concurrency, testing, CI/CD, and secure coding.
• Hands‑on experience with generative AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
• Ability to review AI‑generated code for quality and security.
• Knowledge of agentic workflows, agent development, and spec‑driven development.
• Proficiency in prompt engineering and establishing team‑level AI development standards.
