Java Developer – Backend & Microservices

About the role

We are looking for a talented Java Developer to design, develop, test, and deploy high‑performance backend systems and microservices. You will work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, architects, and DevOps teams to deliver resilient software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient Java server‑side applications and microservices using Spring Boot and the Spring Framework.
• Develop RESTful APIs, integration endpoints, and event‑driven architectures while ensuring performance and reliability.
• Design and optimise relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis) database schemas and queries.
• Integrate enterprise messaging systems such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, and IBM MQ.
• Write comprehensive unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests using JUnit, Mockito, and Testcontainers.
• Collaborate with DevOps to containerise applications with Docker and orchestrate them via Kubernetes/OpenShift, maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience developing Java backend services.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, Clean Architecture, SOLID principles and microservices architecture.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Required skills

• Core Java (Java 11/17/21), OOP, concurrency, streams and lambdas.
• Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security).
• RESTful API design, OpenAPI/Swagger.
• SQL and ORM (Hibernate/JPA) with PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL.
• NoSQL databases: MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis.
• Messaging: Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ.
• Containerisation and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
• CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI.
• Version control: Git; build tools: Maven, Gradle.
• Testing frameworks: JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers.
• Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, OpenTelemetry.
