Indirect Tax Audit Specialist

About the role

Maersk is seeking an Indirect Tax Audit Specialist to lead routine tax audits, prepare tax submissions, and represent the company before tax authorities. The role involves close collaboration with internal tax, finance, and compliance teams to ensure accurate reporting and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine indirect tax audits and draft/vet tax submissions.
• Appear before tax authorities, courts, and attend on‑site hearings in various locations.
• Prepare and review data for tax authority submissions and track deadlines for filings, appeals, and hearings.
• Report tax risk, exposures, and audit outcomes to stakeholders and support financial reporting.
• Provide inputs to the compliance team based on tax authority observations.
• Research and support tax audits, prepare memos, objections, and documentation for financial statements and tax returns.
• Collaborate with functional tax groups and corporate functions for an integrated approach.
• Liaise with external consultants to achieve cost‑efficient audit outcomes.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of experience in indirect taxes, preferably in a global operation or Big 4 environment.
• Proven experience handling tax assessments, audits, and appellate matters.
• Strong background in tax controversy, transactional analysis, and liaison with tax auditors and revenue authorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and thrive in a changing environment.
