IFC - API Developer

About the role

Barclays is looking for an IFC - API Developer to lead the evolution of its infrastructure and deployment pipelines. You will design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services that power digital solutions for the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high‑quality Java‑based microservices using Spring Boot and related Spring modules.
• Write efficient SQL queries for Oracle databases and manage data access with Hibernate/JPA.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements and ensure seamless integration.
• Participate in code reviews, promote best practices, and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
• Implement secure coding standards, unit and integration tests, and support CI/CD pipelines.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and share knowledge within the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices with Java Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data, Hibernate, and JPA.
• Hands‑on experience with Oracle SQL and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with API documentation tools such as Swagger or Postman.
• Exposure to front‑end integration (e.g., ReactJS) and cloud platforms like AWS.
• Understanding of workflow engines (Camunda BPM), message brokers (Kafka), and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
