Hospital Pharmacist – Medication Management

About the role

The hospital pharmacist is responsible for ensuring safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of both semi‑controlled and unrestricted medications. This role supports clinical teams, manages pharmacy inventory, and guarantees compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Process prescriptions for semi‑controlled and unrestricted drugs, maintaining accurate records for semi‑controlled substances.
• Supervise dispensing activities through assistant pharmacy staff.
• Manage pharmacy stock, perform data entry for purchases, and conduct weekly expiry date verification.
• Handle narcotics: receive, issue indents, update narcotic registers, and maintain emergency issue books.
• Double‑check LASA/high‑risk medications during dispensing.
• Receive goods from vendors, forward invoices to purchasing and finance departments, and allocate items to appropriate racks.
• Monitor ward indent issues, near‑expiry drug checks, and conduct scheduled stock audits.
• Consult physicians for alternative therapies when medications are unavailable.
• Counsel patients on dosage, usage, and medication safety.

Required profile

• B.Pharm or D.Pharm degree with mandatory KSPC registration.
• Strong understanding of pharmacology and hospital pharmacy operations.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under regulatory guidelines.
