High School English Teacher (Grades 9‑12)

About the role

The High School English Teacher will deliver engaging English Language and Literature instruction to students in grades 9‑12 following the CBSE and IGCSE curricula. The role focuses on developing strong communication, critical thinking, literary appreciation and exam readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver English lessons covering reading, writing, speaking and listening, with a strong command of advanced grammar structures.
• Teach close‑reading, annotation techniques, literary analysis and various literary theories.
• Guide students in discursive, argumentative, expository and narrative writing.
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids and assessments aligned with curriculum standards.
• Monitor student progress, provide feedback to students and parents, and support learners with gaps or special needs.
• Organise debates, recitations, drama and cultural programs to promote literature and heritage.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, coordinators and parents for integrated learning.
• Participate in professional development workshops, training sessions and staff meetings.
• Maintain student records, discipline and adherence to school policies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in English; B.Ed. preferred.
• 4–8 years of teaching experience at school level, preferably with CBSE/IGCSE or AS/A‑Level curricula.
• Strong conceptual understanding of English language and literature.
• Excellent communication, classroom management and empathy for diverse learners.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office and digital teaching tools.
