Health Records Clerical Officer

About the role

The Health Records Clerical Officer provides essential administrative support to ensure patient records are accurate, confidential, and readily available for clinical staff. Working at Vale of Leven Hospital, you will help maintain both electronic and paper‑based health records and support the smooth operation of outpatient and inpatient services.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and process patient appointments for outpatient clinics, day cases and inpatient admissions.
• Maintain electronic and paper‑based patient record systems, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
• Update patient demographic and administrative data in the patient management system.
• Provide clerical and receptionist services to support clinical care.
• Ensure health records are securely stored and available when needed.

Required profile

• National 4 or Level 1 qualification in three subjects, including English, or equivalent.
• General administration or office experience; clerical experience is desirable.
• Computer literate with good keyboard skills.
• Previous reception experience is desirable.
• Experience with a Patient Management System is desirable, training will be provided.
