Head of Supply Chain - Mining / Fertilizer Industry

About the role

Apt Resources is seeking an experienced Head of Supply Chain to oversee and optimize end-to-end supply chain and logistics operations for its client in Senegal. The role covers supply chain strategy, procurement coordination, logistics, inventory and supplier relationships, and the efficient movement of materials and equipment. The ideal candidate has an engineering background and more than 20 years of experience in supply chain and logistics within mining, fertilizer or related heavy industrial sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with operational and business objectives.
• Oversee procurement coordination, logistics, transportation, warehousing and inventory management.
• Manage the movement of raw materials, industrial equipment, spare parts and supplies to ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate with procurement, operations, production, maintenance and project teams to identify supply needs and avoid disruptions.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, logistics providers and freight forwarders.
• Oversee local and international logistics, including import/export, customs clearance and cross-border transport.
• Monitor budgets, logistics costs, inventory levels and KPIs, and drive cost optimization and process improvements.
• Implement inventory control systems, assess supply chain risks and prepare contingency plans.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, customs requirements, company policies and health and safety standards.
• Lead, develop and supervise supply chain and logistics teams, and prepare regular performance reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical or a related discipline.
• More than 20 years of experience in supply chain, logistics or related functions.
• Extensive experience in mining, fertilizer, petrochemical or other heavy industrial sectors.
• Proven track record managing end-to-end supply chain and logistics in complex industrial environments.
• Experience managing international suppliers and cross-border shipments is highly preferred.
• Willingness to be based in Senegal.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of international logistics, freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation, warehousing and inventory management.
• Expertise in supplier management, supply chain planning, cost control and process optimization.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain management software.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills, and stakeholder management.

What we offer

• Pay of USD 8,000 to 8,500.
