General Manager Data & AI Platform

About the role

The General Manager Data & AI Platform is responsible for the strategy, build and operation of the enterprise data and AI platforms, ensuring secure, scalable and high-performing platforms that support data-driven decisions, advanced analytics and AI innovation. Reporting to the Chief Data & AI Officer, the role owns the end-to-end platform ecosystem, including data platforms, AI/ML platforms and associated tooling, while meeting regulatory and security requirements. It is a permanent, full-time position based in Bengaluru.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the enterprise data and AI platform strategy and roadmap, aligned with data, AI and business priorities
• Ensure platforms are highly available, scalable and performant, and oversee their lifecycle from design, build, run to optimisation
• Provision and operate AI and generative AI platforms, and enable model development, deployment and lifecycle management (MLOps)
• Deliver curated, governed data products supporting analytics, reporting and AI use cases
• Own platform financials, including budgeting, forecasting and cost optimisation
• Define platform engineering standards, tooling and best practices, and drive cloud-native, automation and infrastructure-as-code approaches
• Partner with AI portfolio, data, architecture and business teams, and set clear SLAs and service models
• Build and lead a platform engineering and operations team, and develop organisational capability in data engineering, platform engineering and AI infrastructure

Required profile

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Actuarial Studies, Data Science or AI
• 15+ years of proven, hands-on enterprise deployment experience in financial services
• Experience managing platform costs, budgets and vendor relationships
• Strong leadership in platform engineering, DevOps and cloud-native practices

Required skills

• Deep expertise in data platforms, AI/ML platforms and cloud-based architectures
• Knowledge of data lakes, warehouses, streaming and data products
• Experience with AI/ML and generative AI platforms and MLOps
• Understanding of security, privacy and regulatory requirements in a regulated environment such as banking
