Functional Safety Software Architect (ISO 26262)

About the role

The Functional Safety Software Architect owns the safety‑related software architecture and ensures that technical safety requirements are correctly allocated, implemented, and verified in the software design. This role drives safety analyses, traceability, and release evidence across the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Derive software safety requirements and architecture from the technical safety concept and system interfaces.
• Define safety mechanisms, freedom‑from‑interference, partitioning, diagnostic coverage and safe‑state behavior.
• Lead software FTA/DFA and architecture reviews, managing assumptions and constraints.
• Ensure traceability to implementation and verification evidence and coordinate with system, hardware, cybersecurity, platform and validation stakeholders.
• Support anomalies, changes, field issues and safety‑impact analysis during production and operations.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation or related engineering discipline.
• 10–15 years of experience in embedded software development for automotive safety.
• Practical knowledge of ISO 26262 Part 6, ASIL decomposition and safety mechanisms.

Required skills

• Embedded C/C++ development.
• AUTOSAR and RTOS experience.
• ECU architecture knowledge.
• ISO 26262 Part 6 safety analysis (FTA/DFA).
• ASIL decomposition and safety‑mechanism design.
• Architecture modeling, requirements engineering and verification.
• Automotive SPICE process familiarity.
