Fire Fighter – Airport Operations

About the role

The Fire Fighter position at IGI Airport is essential for rapid response to fire and life‑safety emergencies across terminals, buildings and aircraft. The role involves rescue operations, equipment upkeep, routine patrols and providing first‑aid assistance, all aimed at protecting passengers, staff and airport infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to fire incidents in aircraft, terminals and other airport facilities, ensuring timely rescue of trapped individuals.
• Guide passengers to safety during building‑related emergencies and provide medical first aid when required.
• Maintain operational readiness of firefighting appliances, conduct hydraulic testing, painting and refilling of fire extinguishers.
• Drive and service light‑weight utility and operational vehicles used in emergency response.
• Patrol airport terminals and buildings, inspect fire‑protection and detection systems, and update checklists.
• Coordinate with internal teams (maintenance, airside operations, security) and external agencies (medical services, airlines, government bodies) during emergencies.

Required profile

• Minimum education: 10+2, preferably with science subjects.
• Physical fitness and ability to work in high‑stress, time‑critical situations.
• Willingness to work on‑site at the airport and adhere to strict safety protocols.

• Hydraulic testing of firefighting equipment.
• Fire extinguisher maintenance (painting, refilling).
• First‑aid medical assistance.
• Operation and driving of utility and operational vehicles.
