Financial Data Analyst

About the role

Moody's is hiring a Financial Data Analyst in Bengaluru, India, within its Ratings, Risk & ESG (RRS) line of business. The role sits in the RRS Global Capability Centers, which provide data, analytical and research services that feed into the credit analysis function of the rating groups.

Key responsibilities

• Support credit analysis through data, research and analytical services.
• Apply Moody's standards to financial data to generate adjusted metrics, ratios and visualizations.
• Scrub and validate data for use in ratings and research.
• Review financial reports and official statements to assess issuer performance, collaborating with analysts and accounting specialists on accounting treatments.
• Gather and prepare data inputs for rating teams.
• Perform calculations and apply judgment to support analytical outputs.
• Maintain databases and complete deliverables such as newsletters and ad-hoc reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or a related field; CFA/FRM preferred.
• 0-2 years of credit or financial data analysis and interpretation; structured finance experience is an added advantage.
• Ability to read, interpret and analyze financial metrics and statements.
• Ability to engage with team members, managers and stakeholders to support deliverables.
• Working knowledge of several simple projects or deliverables under guidance.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Strong English communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Basic understanding of how data fits into credit methodologies and ratings processes.
• Basic understanding of AI concepts (generative AI tools and agentic AI systems) and interest in using them responsibly to improve research, analysis and workflows.
