Financial Controller – APAC

About the role

A leading global organization is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to oversee finance and accounting operations across its Asia‑Pacific entities, including India, the Philippines, and Japan. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will be responsible for accurate reporting, timely closes, statutory compliance, and serving as a trusted finance partner to regional leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full‑cycle monthly, quarterly and year‑end close, including journal entries, accruals, variance analysis and preparation of results for global consolidation.
• Oversee accounting functions across APAC entities – General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with group policies, local accounting standards, GST/VAT filings and manage statutory audits.
• Act as an embedded finance partner to business leaders, supporting vendor management, PO creation, invoice approvals and expense classification.
• Partner with Finance and IT to deploy and optimise ERP and reporting systems, driving automation of manual workflows.
• Manage a team of two direct reports and coordinate third‑party bookkeeping providers in Japan and the Philippines.
• Coordinate and attend regional board meetings alongside the country manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a professional certification (CPA, CA, ACCA or CIMA).
• 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including APAC leadership and hands‑on exposure to India, Japan and Philippines reporting standards.
• Proven track record managing GST/VAT reporting and statutory audits across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong knowledge of full‑cycle accounting, foreign currency management and complex consolidations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to advise senior business leaders.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP or QuickBooks.
• Expert‑level Microsoft Excel for financial reporting and analysis.
• Experience using approved AI tools to improve productivity and quality.
