Engineering Manager

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a cross‑functional team within our Digital Engineering organization. You will own core platform domains, drive architectural decisions, and ensure reliable delivery of business‑critical digital products across multiple brands.

Key responsibilities

• Own one or more core platform services (e.g., ordering, catalog, payments, loyalty) delivered via APIs and micro‑services.
• Lead system design, making trade‑offs around latency, resiliency, data consistency, cost, security and time‑to‑market.
• Establish API standards, versioning policies, and integration patterns.
• Improve performance and availability through profiling, caching, database tuning and appropriate queueing/eventing.
• Ensure predictable releases with zero‑downtime deployments, feature flags, progressive roll‑outs and rollback strategies.
• Build and scale a high‑performance team (Backend, Web, Mobile, QA, DevOps/SRE) fostering clear ownership and continuous improvement.
• Coach engineers, manage performance, and partner with Talent Acquisition to hire strong talent.
• Own delivery outcomes: scope definition, estimation, risk management, stakeholder alignment.
• Drive engineering quality through automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD hygiene and secure‑by‑default patterns.
• Advance observability maturity (SLI/SLO, logging, metrics, tracing) and collaborate with SRE to meet availability and latency targets.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading backend‑focused engineering teams in a fast‑moving digital environment.
• Strong track record of delivering high‑scale, reliable services and APIs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across product, design and operations.
• Ability to mentor engineers, drive technical excellence and foster a culture of ownership.
