Engineering Manager

About the role

The Engineering Manager will lead a cross‑functional team within the Digital Engineering organization, driving the design, delivery, and operation of business‑critical digital products across multiple brands and markets. This role requires strong backend expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire high performance.

Key responsibilities

• Own one or more core platform domains (e.g., ordering, catalog, payments) and ensure end‑to‑end accountability for architecture, roadmap, quality, and reliability.
• Lead system design decisions, balancing latency, resiliency, data consistency, cost, security, and time‑to‑market.
• Establish API standards, versioning, and integration patterns while evolving service contracts.
• Drive performance and availability improvements through profiling, caching, database tuning, and appropriate queueing/eventing.
• Manage delivery outcomes, including scope definition, estimation, risk mitigation, and stakeholder alignment.
• Promote engineering excellence with automated testing, code review discipline, CI/CD hygiene, and secure‑by‑default practices.
• Advance observability by defining SLI/SLOs, implementing logging/metrics/tracing, and leading incident response and post‑mortems.
• Collaborate with product, commercial, operations, finance, security, and external partners to align priorities and communicate trade‑offs.

Required profile

• 12+ years of overall experience with at least 3–5 years in engineering leadership or management.
• Strong backend engineering foundation, including service architecture, API design, data modeling, and distributed systems.
• Proven track record delivering high‑availability, production‑grade systems (microservices or modular services).
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern operations practices.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical detail into business outcomes.
