Engineering Manager

About the role

Porter is a fast‑growing logistics platform in India looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a small, high‑impact team. You will own the delivery of business‑critical systems, partner with product and operations, and help shape the technical direction while fostering a strong engineering culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers with clarity, ownership and empathy.
• Drive predictable delivery across multiple projects, defining milestones, dependencies, risks and success metrics.
• Guide technical decisions on high‑level and low‑level designs, reliability, scalability and observability.
• Ensure systems are production‑ready, observable and meet defined SLOs.
• Partner with Product, Business, Data and Operations to solve real user problems.
• Own operational health: dashboards, alerts, incident management, post‑mortems and rollout planning.
• Coach, mentor and develop engineers, setting clear expectations and growth paths.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering teams delivering large‑scale, high‑availability services.
• Strong sense of ownership and ability to translate ambiguous business goals into concrete engineering plans.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross‑functional partners.
• Track record of building a healthy engineering culture focused on quality and impact.

Required skills

• Experience with high‑level (HLD) and low‑level (LLD) system design.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering, SLOs, monitoring and incident response.
• Ability to evaluate trade‑offs in scalability, performance and cost.
