Engineering Manager - E-commerce (SFCC & Shopify)

About the role

Chalhoub Group's Capability Hub, the group's technology and innovation hub, is hiring an Engineering Manager for its e-commerce engineering capability in Bangalore. The role covers Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC/Demandware) and Shopify, owns technical execution, full-stack delivery and operational reliability across all brand websites, and builds a high-performing engineering team. The position reports to the Director of Engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Own technical execution and codebase governance across SFCC multi-brand realms and Shopify Plus applications.
• Oversee end-to-end frontend and backend delivery using Node.js, ISML, SFRA and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Drive migration from monolithic SFCC setups toward composable, decoupled frontend microservices and API-first integrations.
• Enforce secure coding standards, peer code reviews, automated unit and integration testing and DevSecOps practices.
• Lead multi-squad delivery in two-week agile sprints and 8-week PI planning cycles, ensuring peak site availability, fast page loads and zero-downtime checkouts during high-volume events.
• Oversee interfaces with MuleSoft, Fluent OMS, Oracle XStore and payment gateways, and track DORA metrics.
• Manage production deployments and improve them to reach multiple releases per day.
• Maintain SFCC and Shopify platforms operationally, and mentor a team of full-stack engineers and tech leads, including performance reviews, career paths and adoption of AI-assisted tools.
• Partner with Architecture, Omnichannel, Product and QA on workforce and capacity planning, and contribute hands-on to complex implementations, design, testing and documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of total software engineering experience, including 5 years of hands-on e-commerce full-stack development and 3 years managing engineering teams of 15+ people.
• Experience leading complex e-commerce platforms across SFCC and Shopify Plus in multi-brand retail environments.
• Strong ownership of integrations, performance and operational reliability.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in SFCC (Business Manager, SFRA, Controllers, Pipelines, Job Frameworks) and Shopify Plus.
• ISML, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript (ES6+) and React.
• Node.js, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, headless architecture and microservices.
• E-commerce search engines (Algolia, Constructor.io), CDN/caching (Fastly/Cloudflare), GitLab CI/CD, Git workflows.
• Observability and APM tools (Datadog, Splunk), SAFe/Agile (Jira/Confluence).
